This month

It's about exploring, not amounts. Offer soft foods in big, grippable shapes, with iron-rich foods (meat, beans or lentils, iron-fortified infant cereal) from the start. Introduce common allergens like well-cooked egg and peanut. Offer peanut only as smooth peanut butter thinned into food, or as peanut powder: never whole nuts or spoonfuls. If your baby has severe eczema or an egg allergy, ask your pediatrician how to start peanut soon. Offer sips of water from a cup with meals (up to 4–8 oz / 120–240 ml a day). No honey, and no added salt or sugar.
